Amy:
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing North Carolina's early learning content standards. I appreciate that your state already includes the social & emotional domain. Have they been a part of our content standards since their inception? Ohio had not included it; but I believe we are working to add it. We do have a social and emotional field guide for early mental health specialists, though.
MIchigan has really high standards also for their child care centers. We include the social-emotional domain because, like Louann said, it absolutely should be included. They can't learn if they don't feel comfortable and confident in the classroom. I will take an extra moment to look at the Head Start website you included. I find they are always a good resource to refer to when evaluating your program. Have a good day!!
ReplyDeleteHi Amy,
ReplyDeleteI think Howard Gardner has opened the opportunity for us to understand how children and adults learn. When i studied him I was able to identify my strongest learning style, which is a hands on learning you are right we all can benifit from his research.
Chris
